2-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
February 24, 2025 - February 25, 2025
Please see the attached flier regarding an upcoming ASIST workshop, available to staff at no-cost. ASIST is a 2-day, standardized, suicide intervention training. Since 2022, we have trained over 100 professionals within the aging network from across the state. Below is some of the feedback we received from participants:
- I can see me using it in my everyday job with my clients, staff, and co-workers. This is going to benefit my entire community.
- I may now be able to notice the signs of suicide more easily than in the past. It would be wonderful if we could provide training to other staff and volunteers in our agency.
- It was one of the best trainings I have ever been to. I am leaving feeling like I can actually do something for people with mental illness and suicidal thoughts. There is hope now.
- This program is wonderful and gave participants the tools to meet the needs of our clients.
- It has been a wonderful training opportunity and if we can even be of preventing one suicide completion then we have been successful.
- This training has equipped me to feel comfortable enough to be able to recognize if someone is contemplating suicide, how to talk to them about suicide, create a safe plan for now and to move forward with a focus on quality of life…Thanks…for impacting my life for the better and to now feel comfortable around the topic of suicide that is never talked about and always kept hush hush. How can we move forward if suicide is never talked about in our community. Aging adults are always forgotten about and this training will make a difference in the life of an aging adult.
This in-person workshop will be held at the Haywood Senior Resource Center in Waynesville, February 24-25. To register, please click the link below. Space in each training is limited to 24 people. Please only register once you are certain you can attend.
